Mayor Mark Freeman Joins Groundbreaking for New Marriott SpringHill Suites

Two weeks ago, Mesa celebrated a major step forward in economic growth. Mark Freeman joined regional leaders to break ground on a new SpringHill Suites by Marriott at Gateway East.

The five-story hotel will include 127 guest rooms and modern amenities. It is designed to support the growing aerospace and technology corridor in the East Valley. The site is located within the 270-acre Gateway East business park near Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.

Supporting Smart Growth

This project is part of the airport’s long-term master plan. As Gateway East expands, the need for quality lodging continues to grow. Therefore, this hotel will serve business travelers, aviation partners, and visitors.

Mayor Freeman called the project an exciting addition to the area. He explained that it reflects Mesa’s strong economy and steady growth. In addition, it shows developer confidence in the region’s future.

The hotel is a partnership between Western States Lodging Management and Development and The Boyer Company. Together, they are helping strengthen Mesa’s position as a business destination.

A Regional Effort

The groundbreaking also highlighted strong regional cooperation. Mayor Freeman was joined by Julia Wheatley, Scott Anderson, and Regina Antone.

In addition, airport officials and project leaders attended the ceremony. Their teamwork helped bring this project to life. Because of that collaboration, Gateway East continues to move forward.
