Mark Freeman, a lifelong Mesa resident and former Captain Paramedic, exemplifies family, integrity, and community values. After dedicating 31 years to the Mesa Fire and Medical Department, he served on the Mesa City Council from 2017 to 2024, including a term as Vice Mayor from 2019 to 2021. Now serving as Mesa's 41st Mayor, Mark offers steady leadership and conservative principles for a brighter future.

Mesa Born and Bred

Mark Freeman, a lifelong Mesa resident, became the city's 41st mayor in January 2025. With deep roots in the community, he and his wife, LeeAnn, cherish their three children and nine grandchildren. A retired Captain Paramedic, he served 31 years with Mesa Fire and Medical before joining the City Council from 2017 to 2024, including as Vice Mayor. A descendant of Mesa’s founding Crismon family, he continues farming and operates a local summer market. As Mayor, he prioritizes public safety, economic growth, and preserving Mesa’s heritage while ensuring responsible governance.

Veteran Firefighter

After graduating from Westwood High School and Rio Salado College, Mark embarked on a remarkable 31-year career with the Mesa Fire Department. Throughout his journey, he served as a firefighter, engineer, and captain paramedic specializing in handling hazardous materials crises. In recognition of his exceptional contributions, Mark was honored as Arizona's Fire Fighter of the Year in 1994 for saving a man's life at Boy Scout's Camp Geronimo in Payson.

Public Servant

With a lifelong love for Mesa, he is determined to continue serving the city, his neighbors, and local families. Mark believes in finding intelligent approaches to minimize costs while fostering stronger connections between residents and city staff.

As Mayor, Mark aspires for every resident to feel the genuine support of a friend and a dedicated public servant. His commitment to serving Mesa is unwavering, and he aims to enhance the well-being of the community by championing their needs in his role.

Neighborhood Advocate

Although retired from firefighting and dedicated to the family farm, Mark's desire to serve his community remains unwavering. He actively participates in his church and has spent ten years as President of the Lehi Community Improvement Association, earning the affectionate nickname "the Mayor of Lehi." Additionally, Mark currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Maricopa County Farm Bureau and the Arizona State Farm Bureau.
